Welcome to the new Pimlico Arts Blog! Dedicated to all things surrounding both Irish and International art and possibly also a little of whatever cultural gems happen to tickle this bloggers fancy at the time of writing.
To kick it off I thought I’d point you in the direction of the Dublin Culture Night. For one night only organisers offer you the opportunity to experience the best of Dublin’s cultural output, both historical and contemporary. Whatever suits your taste there’s bound to be something to tickle your interest. From Art to Poetry, Literature and Music, the event is bound to have something to offer everyone.
Pimlico’s top tips are, needless to say, more geared towards the art lover/collector/appreciator/creator but plenty more can be found on the main website for those with leanings towards different areas of the arts
- Living with Art Dublin at Gormley’s Fine Art will feature a range of new works by establishd and emerging Irish Artists. A wide array on display including works from Graham Kunuttel, Liam O’Neill and Rowland Davidson.
- Access to Arts is based in the impressive Design Tower by the Grand Canal in Dublin. On Culture Night the Gallery will have extended opening hours until 10pm for visitors. This gallery seeks to promote Irish contemporary art of all kinds, from fine art to applied art. Whatever the art medium you find most appealing the chances are you’ll find something here to appreciate. Works are exhibited in bronze, ceramic, oils, wood, watercolour and print. Pieces are available across a wide price range so you may find something to take home to remind you of the night. Its worth noting that other studios in the Design Tower will also be open that night.
- Katy Simpson will launch her third exhibition in the Oisin Gallery on the Culture Night. This Irish Contemporary artist is definately worth a view and the preview of her work will include a talk by Kevin Kelly and live music by 3Epkano
